Victorian Flat Renovation London – Contemporary 1880s Terrace Refurbishment

Client
Private

Location
London, UK

This renovation project involved the complete transformation of a flat within an 1880s Victorian terrace building in southwest London, showcasing how thoughtful design can maximise compact spaces. The brief was to take a dated, tired property and reinvent it as a bright, contemporary home, while preserving the charm of its Victorian heritage.

The finished renovation created a stylish two-bedroom flat with a modern, Scandi-inspired interior. The design includes two colourful double bedrooms, a bold white-and-gold kitchen, an eclectic black-and-white bathroom, a pocket-doored study and an open-plan living and dining area that makes the most of natural light. This Victorian flat refurbishment demonstrates how period properties can be modernised to suit today’s lifestyles while keeping their unique character intact.

A particular challenge was the narrow galley kitchen, typical of Victorian terrace flats. The solution paired efficiency with elegance through a carefully considered layout of sleek white cabinetry, brushed brass splashbacks, gold-accented handles and a warm oak block worktop. The result is a kitchen refurbishment that feels both highly functional and visually striking.

This project is an excellent example of a Victorian flat renovation, proving that even the smallest spaces can be reimagined through clever interior design, contemporary detailing and thoughtful spatial planning. The result is a vibrant home that celebrates colour, modern living and the enduring appeal of Victorian architecture.
