how do i know if someone is an architect?
The term "Architect" is legally protected under the Architects Act 1997, ensuring that only individuals who have undergone thorough training and obtained full qualifications can rightfully use it. Some companies that describe themselves as "architectural" designers or similar may not be qualified Architects.
All architects are required to be registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB), and many also choose to become members of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). If an individual lacks either of these credentials, they may be operating without regulation, which means there are no assurances of their ability to provide the service you need.
You can verify if someone is a RIBA member through their directory.
